Georgia Woman Found Not Guilty In 2017 Northport Gas Station Robbery

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Tuscaloosa County jury on Wednesday found a Georgia woman not guilty of first degree robbery in a case going back to 2017, according to a release from the Glasscox Law Firm.

Lisa Devochea Gaines was charged along with two others after a robbery in April 2017 at the Chevron gas station at 7000 McFarland Boulevard in Northport. However, her attorneys pointed out evidence at trial involving the two others who had already been found guilty of the robbery that the state had charged Gaines for.

Robert Bryant Jones of Coaling and Cadarious Jemells Gaines of Tuscaloosa were the two other suspects previously found guilty of the robbery prior to the trial for Lisa Gaines.

“My client is eternally grateful and thankful that the jury came together as one and gave Ms. Gaines her life back to her,” Tuscaloosa-based lawyer Elizabeth Glasscox said.

She also pointed out that had Gaines been found guilty, she could have faced life in prison.

"We are so grateful that the jury, when presented with the fact that others had actually been found guilty of doing what they said Ms. Gaines had done, did the right thing and let Ms. Gaines go back to her family and children," said Stan Glasscox, one of her lawyers. "The jury got it right; the jury did justice of all concerned.”
