UPDATE: TPD Investigating Fatal Motorcycle Accident On University Boulevard

The Tuscaloosa Police Department is investigating a wreck involving a motorcycle Thursday night in downtown Tuscaloosa.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department says both lanes of University Boulevard are closed following a fatal motorcycle accident Thursday night that was initially reported to police as a hit-and-run.

TPD said in an updated release Thursday night that the motorcycle driver was killed in the crash that occurred near the intersection of University Boulevard and 17th Avenue.

The victim's identity has not been released at this time and both lanes of traffic on University Boulevard remained closed as of 9:30 p.m.

The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.
