Holt High Football Asks For Donations For New Nutritional Plan
Here's how you can help the Holt High football program boost its new nutritional plan for its student athletes.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Holt High School is asking for donations from the community as first-year head football coach Brian Newton aims to implement a nutritional plan for his student athletes in the coming year.

The school has a new refrigerator and hopes to put it to good use for its athletes.

“Most of the football programs in Tuscaloosa County have a great nutritional plan in place for their athletes," Newton told Patch. "The kids at those schools are blessed to have an abundance of protein, healthy snacks, Muscle Milk, critical reload and more. I came to Holt to help change lives, not just coach football. I want to give our kids everything that they need & more, because they deserve it."
Newton explained that students in years past didn't have these kinds of luxuries, which inspired him to make a change for the better.

"We recently had a family donate a refrigerator to store items for our team," he said. "Since my post [this week on Facebook], we have had several people reach out to help our boys. We are thankful for all those people and blessed to have so many people who care about our kids."
At present, the program is asking for the following items:
- Cases of water
- Gatorade or Powerade
- Fruit
- Bread
- Peanut butter
- Grape jelly
- Variety bag chips
- Sandwich meat, such as ham or turkey, along with cheese.
