Patch also reported that businessman and former professional football player Doug Parrish will also appear on the ballot on April 14 at Church of the Highlands on Rice Mine Road.

Brock Corder, the governmental affairs chairman for the Home Builders Association of Tuscaloosa, said Henry’s background and experience make him well-suited for the role.

“The Home Builders Association of Tuscaloosa advocates for our members who contribute to the responsible growth and establishment of communities in our great city,” Corder said. “Richard’s knowledge of zoning, city government, and how to navigate conflict to reach the best outcome for the city make him an extremely qualified candidate for District 3.”

Henry says he has spent his career working in property management and redevelopment, with a focus on rehabilitating older housing and bringing underused properties back into productive use.

According to the association's endorsement, that hands-on experience has given him a practical understanding of zoning regulations, neighborhood concerns and the impact city decisions can have on housing, infrastructure and public safety.

Henry said he is appreciative of the endorsement and emphasized the importance of thoughtful development.

“I’m grateful for the support of the Home Builders Association of Tuscaloosa,” Henry said. “Strong neighborhoods don’t happen by accident. They require thoughtful planning, clear communication, and leaders who understand how decisions at City Hall affect the people building, working, and living in our community.”
