TUSCALOOSA, AL — A death investigation is underway at Hurricane Creek in Tuscaloosa after a body was discovered in the water just after 7 a.m. Friday morning.

The Tuscaloosa Police Department confirmed the news to Patch, saying an individual was out walking their dog when they spotted the body and contacted law enforcement.

The case is now being handled by the multi-agency Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit, which investigates all unnatural deaths in the metropolitan area.

Captain Marty Sellers, co-commander of the multi-agency unit, told local media that the victim was white, but investigators are still working to determine other identifying information.
