Lake Nicol Drowning Victim Identified As UA Student From Nigeria
Multiple agencies responded around 5 p.m. Saturday to reports of a man jumping into the lake and not resurfacing.
TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit on Monday as identified the victim in a drowning investigation at Lake Nicol over the weekend as an 18-year-old University of Alabama student, originally from Nigeria.

Unit Commander Captain Jack Kennedy said multiple agencies responded around 5 p.m. Saturday to reports of a man jumping into the lake and not resurfacing.

The victim was identified as Ifeanyi Chidubem Prince Anyoku of Post Harcourt, Nigeria.
Kennedy first responders searched and were unable to locate the individual, with investigation then being handed over to the Violent Crimes Unit.

"Multiple witnesses present all stated that the subject had jumped from the cliffs feet first into the water," Kennedy said. "There are no indications of foul play at this time. While witnesses were being interviewed the subject's body was located by the Tuscaloosa Fire Department Dive Team, and was determined to be deceased. At this time, this appears to have been an accident."
The victim was identified as 18 year old Ifeanyi Chidubem Prince Anyoku of Post Harcourt, Nigeria. The victim was a student at the University of Alabama.
