TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Literacy Council of West Alabama is set to host its second annual BookStock Festival on Saturday, May 20, at the New Heights Community Resource Center.

The free event will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., aiming to raise awareness of the importance of reading, while also focusing its activities on the issues that are central to the nonprofit's mission of getting books to those in need, encouraging children to read at an early age, and tutoring those who cannot read, especially when it comes to managing their personal finances and everyday needs

The Literacy Council of West Alabama says its new location is strategic in that, along with 10 other non-profit agencies, the organization is now able to help the children and families who would most benefit from our services.

Organizers said there is no need to sign up in advance. The Literacy Council of West Alabama i located at the New Heights Community Resource Center, which is at 3834 21st Street, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, 35401.

BookStock Festival offerings:

• Hands-on book construction project led by the UA Books Arts Program from 10:30 am -12:30 pm, all ages.

• Tutoring sign-ups.

• Free lunch for participating families.

• Painting Little Library boxes, all ages.

• Scavenger Hunt, all day, all ages.

• Book Club Table. Signup for Elementary and Middle Grade Book Clubs

• 360 degree photo booth
