Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the Violent Crimes Unit, told local media Wednesday that the victim had been shot twice and was transported to a local hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
He then said the victim told police he was walking in the area of Bonita Terrace when someone began shooting at him, before providing investigators with a partial description and possible name of the suspect.

Kennedy also said witnesses reported seeing the suspect flee toward a residence on Meadow Lawn Drive.
This lead investigators to identify Derrick Anthony White, 44, as the suspect and learned he was inside the home.
Kennedy explained that White refused commands to exit the residence, prompting officers to secure the scene and call the Tuscaloosa Police Department’s SWAT team.
He later exited the residence and was taken into custody without further incident.
White was charged with one count of attempted murder and committed to the Tuscaloosa County Jail with no bond.
