The complaint says the investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) received a CyberTipline report from Google on Nov. 4, 2025.

The report indicated that a user had stored files depicting apparent child sexual abuse material in Google Photos infrastructure.

A second report filed the same day indicated the same user had also stored similar content in Google Drive.

Investigators reviewed the reported files and confirmed the images depicted apparent child sexual abuse material.

Authorities subsequently obtained a search warrant for the Crook's Google Drive and Google Photos accounts.

The warrant return reportedly contained additional material as well as personal photographs and documents that investigators say helped confirm the account holder’s identity.

The complaint also states that Google logged an IP address at the time the material was uploaded that investigators say identified Crook as the internet subscriber at a Tuscaloosa County address.

Crook’s bond was set at $30,000 and court documents show that as a condition of his release, he is not permitted to be around minor children or possess electronic devices.

Dr. Crook's WebMD profile cites his place of primary employment as Bryce Hospital and says he has "42 years of experience."

He is a 1984 graduate of the University of South Alabama Frederick P. Whiddon College of Medicine.
