Large Wildfire Destroys Two Homes In Brookwood

BROOKWOOD, AL — The Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office and Tuscaloosa Fire Rescue confirm a large presence of state and local emergency responders in Brookwood presently battling a major wildfire.

Amid severe drought conditions, TCSO said the fires had been reported in the area of Hill Drive, Bent Twig Lane, Hammonds Drive and West Side Road.

Sheriff's Office Public Information Officer Jessica McDaniel, at 7 p.m., said there were no injuries and no loss of life. Additionally, two homes were completely destroyed and three acres of pasture land burned.

TCSO also said the Alabama Forestry Commission says there is no mandatory evacuation order at this time.
