Nighttime Lane Closures For Interstate Bridge To Install UA Research Sensors

ALDOT announced the nighttime lane closures for this weekend, which will allow for UA researcher to install sensors to study the bridge.

TUSCALOOSA, AL – The Alabama Department of Transportation (ALDOT) on Thursday announced nighttime lane closures for this weekend on the Interstate 20/59 bridge at Exit 73, to allow researchers with the University of Alabama to place sensors designed to study the health of the bridge.

The closures will also impact McFarland Boulevard, directly under the interstate, which will see intermittent lane closures Friday between 9 p.m. until 6 a.m., while lane closures Saturday and Sunday are scheduled between 8 p.m. and 6 a.m.

ALDOT says at least one through-traffic lane will be open at all times during the closures.

For alternate routes, ALDOT encourages motorists to use Skyland Boulevard, Interstate 359 or other alternate routes.
