As Patch previously reported, Kentuck Nutrition first opened in December 2022 at the Shoppes of Northport at the intersection of Highway 82 and Harper Road.

However, Kentuck Art Center & Museum holds a trademark on the Kentuck name and filed a lawsuit alleging the business was not authorized to use the name.

Kentuck Art Center Executive Director Amy Echols said the nonprofit has a legal duty to defend and protect trademarks associated with Kentuck Art Center & Festival.

"If Kentuck did not defend its Trademarks, then Kentuck would be in in jeopardy of losing them," she said. "Hoping for an amicable, out-of-court resolution, multiple attempts were made to discuss these issues with the Logan’s legal representative, but were unsuccessful. Unfortunately, when Kentuck received no response, Kentuck had no choice under law but to defend the trademark and file suit. Kentuck now understands the name has been changed and is happy to dismiss the lawsuit. Kentuck wishes Kentu Nutrition every success."

In response to the lawsuit, Kentuck Nutrition owner Kathy Logan has changed the business's name to KenTu Nutrition. The changes are already reflected on the business's website and social media, while the new sign on the business remains as is for the time being.

The business's menu includes meal replacement shakes, loaded energy teas, donut shots, healthy snacks and specialty drinks, along with other menu items to be announced at a later date.
