Northport Intermediate Seeks Donations Of Used Game Consoles, Amazon Items For Game Room

The school began collecting donations on Thursday and the NIS office will be open Tuesday-Friday from 8 a.m. until 2 p.m.

NORTHPORT, AL — Northport Intermediate School is currently collecting donations to put together a fun game room to serve as an incentive to reward students for perfect attendance, honor roll, behavior and more.

NIS Principal Michael Tilford praised the hard work and ideas of school counselor Carla Hamner as she spearheads the initiative.

"We are super excited about it," Tilford told Patch. "She envisioned making a space where students can go and be rewarded for making positive choices. We are going to use it as an incentive for things like attendance and good behavior. This is going to be a wonderful addition to our school."

For the bigger items, NIS has provided an Amazon wishlist link, but the school is also accepting donations of gently used gaming consoles and board games with all the pieces.

At present, the new game room has a Nintendo Wii, a Sony PlayStation and PlayStation 3.
