Northport OKs Change To Sunday Alcohol Sales, Board Appointments

NORTHPORT, AL — Northport restaurants will now be able to serve alcohol beginning at 10 a.m. on Sundays after the City Council voted 4-1 in favor of easing the restrictions to bring the city in line with other establishments in Tuscaloosa.

Also known as "The Brunch Bill," it will amend the previous ordinance barring on-premise alcohol sales and consumption until noon on Sundays.

District 3 Councilman John Hinton was the lone nay vote on the measure.

Other Northport City Council business

  • Council President Jeff Hogg named Jalapeños Mexican Grill as the city's Business of the Month for March.
  • The Council approved the city administrator to negotiate a contract for $5,000 for Dr. John Myrick to update his 2013 feasibility study on a potential Northport city school system.
