TPD spokeswoman Stephanie Taylor told local media that at 5:10 p.m., TPD dispatch began receiving calls that around 200 people were driving in and out of the parking lot at DLP on Highway 69 South.

She said this resulted in problems with parking, due to pool party at the location with people blocking entrances and exits. Taylor explained that the vehicles left the complex once officers responded to the call.

However, around 6:15 p.m., TPD dispatch received an additional call about 100 cars racing in the parking lot at Snow Hinton Park.

"While officers were en route, another 911 caller reported that around 200 cars had pulled into parking lot of evolve Tuscaloosa off Jack Warner Parkway," Taylor said. "Subsequent callers reported hearing gunshots in the area of the parking deck. Officers responded to the DCH ER and located a victim who suffered an injury that isn’t life-threatening. They are still at the scene."

The events of the evening were quite over, though as TPD received another call from Redpoint Apartments at 7:30 p.m. reporting that 30 vehicles were parked at the complex's club house and were refusing to leave.

Taylor said officers were still at that location as of 8 p.m.

It was around the time of the third call, as Patch previously reported, that TPD officers also responded to a call of a fatal shooting at Aspen Village Apartments.

VCU Captain Marty Sellers told local media that a potential suspect was in custody and one person was dead.

Both shooting investigations are ongoing and it remains unclear if the two incidents are in any way related.
