Over 10K Vaccine Doses Given At UA; 72% Of Employees Vaccinated
Here's a look at the first round of coronavirus vaccination and case data published by the University of Alabama System on Tuesday.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The University of Alabama System on Tuesday officially published its first round of coronavirus data as the 2021-2022 school year begins this week.
COVID-19 fast facts ...
- 10,307 doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered at the University of Alabama.
- 72.4% of employees on the Tuscaloosa campus have been vaccinated.
- For the week of Aug. 9-15, a total of 56 students and 26 employees on UA's Tuscaloosa campus tested positive for the coronavirus.

The news comes as the University of Alabama is set to begin the fall semester under a temporary mask order and with added restrictions in place to help combat the spread of the virus.
On Monday, Patch reported that DCH Health System logged a total of 138 coronavirus positive inpatients to begin the week, with 30 patients receiving care in the system's ICUs.

Monday's total was up from 80 inpatient cases reported two weeks ago and came on the same day that Alabama Hospital Association Director Dr. Don Williamson said the state's current ICU situation showed only two available beds in Alabama.
What's more, as of the latest vaccination numbers, 82,672 Tuscaloosa County residents have received at least one dose. According to the latest U.S. Census data, 29% of the county's population have completed their vaccination series.
