Pet Adoption Event Saturday To Honor Alabama POWs In Ukraine

The Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter will host a special adoption event on Saturday in honor of two Alabama who are Russian POWs.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter will host a pet adoption event on Saturday in honor of two Alabama natives who volunteered for military service in Ukraine and are currently Russian prisoners of war.

As Patch previously reported, the families of Andy Tai Ngoc Huynh, 27, of Trinity and Alexander Drueke, 39, of Tuscaloosa, lost contact with the two soldiers in June, before news eventually surfaced that the two men had been captured by Russian forces amid its invasion of the eastern European country.

The "Big Dogs, Big Hearts" adoption event in honor of the two men will be held from 9 a.m. until noon at Forest Lake Methodist Church on 4th Avenue.
