Position Opens On Tuscaloosa Historic Preservation Commission

The City of Tuscaloosa is currently looking to fill an open position on its Historic Preservation Committee

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa on Monday announced it is accepting resumes for a replacement position on its Historic Preservation Commission, with the unexpired term set to end Oct. 1, 2022.

The Commission is charged with reviewing and voting on all improvements and developments within the historic districts throughout Tuscaloosa, while also providing guidance to property owners in the planning and design phases of projects.

The candidates will be reviewed and recommended by the mayor to the full City Council for approval.


Requirements

  • Live within the Tuscaloosa city limits.
  • Have training or experience in history, architecture, architectural history, American studies, cultural geography, cultural anthropology, planning, archaeology, law or other related historic preservation fields.
  • Be available to attend monthly meetings.
