Second Annual Tuscaloosa Gauntlet Obstacle Course Race Set For April 1
The second annual Tuscaloosa Gauntlet Obstacle Course Race will be held at the Buddy Powell Pavilion on April 1.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa County Park & Recreation Authority (PARA) on Friday said its second annual Tuscaloosa Gauntlet Obstacle Course Race will be held at the Buddy Powell Pavilion on April 1.

The event, sponsored by the Alabama Marines Foundation, will begin at 8 a.m. at the pavilion off of Northridge Road. Registration is currently open and will be through race day, with increasing fee amounts

District 4 City Councilor Lee Busby, who serves as treasurer for the Alabama Marines Foundation, said the event is a major fundraiser for the nonprofit and is considered the ‘The South’s Premier Military Style Obstacle Course Race."
The race is approximately 5K and features more than 20 obstacles, including a Marine regulation O-Course.

"Participants can expect a festive, fast-paced, muddy, and physically demanding challenge from the course while volunteers and observers will get a thrill from seeing the athletic achievement," Busby said. "This year’s course features both newly designed and seasoned obstacles, all of which are custom-built for the racecourse contained in Sokol Park.”
The Tuscaloosa Gauntlet will feature competitive, non-competitive, and team entry heats for men and women, along with a Kids’ Race.
Winners in each adult category will receive a custom, 3-D printed trophy.
Organizers said packet pick-up for pre-registered participants with valid ID is available on March 31 at 4-7 p.m. at the District Room, which is located at 551 20th Avenue in downtown Tuscaloosa or on-site the day of the race.
What's more, volunteers are welcome to participate in areas such as water stations and obstacle monitoring.
