Shelton State, UA To Partner On New Transfer Pathway

SSCC is partnering with the University of Alabama to create a seamless pathway for SSCC students to transfer to The Capstone.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Shelton State Community College on Thursday announced it is partnering with the University of Alabama to create a seamless pathway for SSCC students to transfer to The Capstone.

Shelton State says the agreement allows the two institutions to have a clearly defined transfer process and enhanced communication with students regarding transfers. This will also include scholarship opportunities, academic advising, career coaching, and counseling.

“Partnering with The University of Alabama provides Shelton State students more opportunities to continue their educations here in Tuscaloosa,” SSCC President Chris Cox said. “We hope this agreement further strengthens our relationship with UA and encourages our students to continue pursuing higher education.”

As part of the agreement, Shelton State students with a minimum 2.0 grade point average and 24 transferable credit hours are guaranteed a seamless transfer to the University of Alabama.

What's more, the two schools will also provide designated admissions counselors to identify eligible students, facilitate a smooth transfer to UA and maximize students’ transferable coursework.

Shelton State said leaders from both schools will sign an articulation agreement during a ceremony on Monday, Sept. 11, at 11:00 a.m. on Shelton State’s Martin Campus.
