State Officials Seeking Suggestions For Improvements At Lake Lurleen State Park

State officials will host a listening session next week to gather suggestions from members of the community.

NORTHPORT, AL — The Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (ADCNR) on Monday announced it will host a public listening session on Wednesday, April 19 to gather suggestions for future improvements to Lake Lurleen State Park.

The event will be held at the Faucett Brothers Activity Center, which is located at 13040 Eugenia Faucett Drive, in Northport. The listening session will run from 6:30 p.m. until 8 p.m.

ADCNR Commissioner Chris Blankenship, State Parks Division Director Greg Lein, and other state parks officials will be on hand to take suggestions from the public for the types of improvements they would like to see at park.

“We are grateful for the overwhelming support Alabamians have shown for their State Parks,” Blankenship said. “Thanks to that support, state parks throughout Alabama have been receiving much-needed upgrades and improvements. We invite the surrounding communities to attend this meeting and share the ways they would like to see this park evolve in the future. These are your state parks, and we want to provide you with one of the best parks systems in the country.”

Lake Lurleen State Park is a 1,625-acre park that offers several recreational activities and outdoor amenities, such as campgrounds, a nature center, picnic areas, play areas, pavilions, a beach along Lake Lurleen and a bathhouse.

The park also offers fishing piers, boat rentals and boat launch areas.
