Stillman Softball's Faith Byram Named SSAC Pitcher Of The Week

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Stillman College freshman pitcher Faith Byram was named Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

This comes after the Hueytown native logged two conference wins against NAIA Top 20 opponents last week, including the program's first-ever win over University of Mobile.

Byram is 8-1 on the season, which has powered Stillman to a 20-8 overall record — the program's first 20-win season since 2015.

The conference honor marks the first of her career, which was also made possible by posting a 0.93 ERA through two complete-game wins against No. 19 William Carey University and No. 10 Mobile.

Over this stretch, she allowed allowed only two earned runs, four total, surrendering 10 hits through 15 innings of work. She also gave up only two walks, while striking out five.

Byram is the third Stillman player to earn SSAC weekly honors this season, along with Lexi McCray winning SSAC Pitcher of the Week in Week 1, while Madison Bubel earned SSAC Player of the Week in Week 3.

The Tigers will return to action against MUW on Wednesday, March 29 for a 2 p.m. doubleheader, before hosting SSAC opponent Faulkner on Saturday, April 1 at 2 p.m.
