Stillman Softball's Katelyn Lankford Named SSAC Player Of The Week

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Stillman College softball standout Katelyn Lankford has been named the Southern States Athletic Conference Player of the Week for her performance over four games last week.

The freshman designated player from Hueytown hit .636 (7-for-11) with 10 RBIs, seven runs scored and two home runs last week in four games for Stillman. Lankford also hit .778 through her last three games.

Her efforts were good enough to help Stillman softball improve to to 26-8 overall and 10-6 in SSAC play. What's more, the sweep represented the first sweep of a conference doubleheader for Stillman College since 2016.

Stillman also secured its second-most regular season wins in program history with 15 games to play. Lankford is the fourth Stillman player this season to receive SSAC weekly honors, joining Madison Bubel, Lexi McCray and fellow Hueytown-native Faith Byram.

Stillman softball will return to action on Tuesday when the teams travels to Columbus, Mississippi to take on MUW.
