Suspect In Fatal Tuscaloosa Apartment Shooting Caught In Bibb County

An arrest has been announced in a shooting on Tuesday that left a 22-year-old Tuscaloosa man dead at a Tuscaloosa apartment complex.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit has arrested a Tuscaloosa man in connection with a fatal shooting that left a 22-year-old man dead at an apartment complex on Tuesday.

Captain Marty Sellers on Friday told local media that the U.S. Marshal Task Force apprehended 29-year-old Jeremy Delvonte Hardaway, of Tuscaloosa, in Bibb County and took him into custody on a murder warrant resulting from the shooting in the 600 block of 33rd Street East.

Kennedy said Hardaway was taken into custody without incident, transported back to Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit and eventually placed in the Tuscaloosa County Jail.

His cash bond was then set at $1 million.

As Patch previously reported, the shooting occurred at Hodo Haven Apartments on 33rd Street around 6 p.m. Tuesday, where Tuscaloosa Police Department officers arrived to find 22-year-old Larry Maddix Jr. dead of apparent gunshot wounds.

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit asks anyone who witnessed the shooting or has information to contact investigators at (205) 464-8692.
