In an announcement to the Tuscaloosa City Schools community regarding the decision, TCS Board Attorney Dave Ryan said the school board looked at compensation for superintendents at some of the best school districts across the state to ensure the contract was competitive and comparable.
"When I sat down with board members to talk about the extension, not only was there unanimous agreement that was well deserved and needed, but the directive was that we have the best superintendent in the state and he needs to be paid accordingly," Ryan said.
