TPD: No Crime Committed In City Hall Incident Involving City Councilor

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department has issued a statement following a verbal altercation Tuesday night in City Hall involving a Tuscaloosa City councilor.

TPD spokesperson Stephanie Taylor mentioned to local media that the department has received inquiries after a Tuscaloosa City councilwoman and a member of the community, who were involved in a verbal dispute following Tuesday night’s council meeting at City Hall.

This indicates that the incident involved District 2 Councilor Raevan Howard, who is the only woman on the City Council.

Taylor told local media that Howard told officers that the community member called her a name and said they were involved in an ongoing personal dispute.

She then said officers documented the incident and no charges were filed.

Tuscaloosa Patch has opted to not publish the name of the other party involved since they are a private citizen and were not charged with any crime.
