Suspect In Critical Condition After Officer-Involved Shooting In Tuscaloosa

Here's the latest after an officer-involved shooting left one person in critical condition during the overnight hours.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit confirms a 29-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries in an officer-involved shooting Wednesday morning just after 3 a.m.

Unit Commander Captain Jack Kennedy early Wednesday morning told local media that officers with the Tuscaloosa Police Department were involved in the shooting at Bent Tree Apartments.

He then said no officers were injured and one suspect is being treated for life-threatening injuries at an area hospital.

Kennedy said the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit assumed the investigation with investigators and supervisors not affiliated with TPD, which is standard protocol for the multi-agency unit when investigating officer-involved shootings.
