As Patch previously reported, the vigil is in part a response to the Jan. 7 shooting death of 37-year-old Renee Good by a federal agent in Minneapolis and a separate shooting by federal agents on Saturday that resulted in the death of 37-year-old intensive care unit nurse Alex Pretti.

In both instances, federal officials quickly said the ICE agents involved acted in self-defense, while detractors argue that the use of deadly force was not warranted.

The vigil in Tuscaloosa is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 26, at Canterbury Episcopal Chapel, which is located at 812 Fifth Avenue in Tuscaloosa.
