Tuscaloosa To Close Stretch Of Frank Thomas Avenue Until July 24

The city says the temporary closure will allow the contractor to install utilities for a large-scale student housing development.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa will close a portion of Frank Thomas Avenue Monday morning, from 6th Street to 8th Street.

The closure, which will allow Dominion Construction to install utilities for the Union on Frank development project, is expected to last until 5 p.m. on Saturday, July 24.

Greystar is developing the 17-acre property with a $70 million student housing community in close proximity to the University of Alabama. The 200-unit development will be located at 512 Frank Thomas Avenue, within walking distance of Bryant-Denny Stadium.

No timetable for completion has been announced.
