The City of Tuscaloosa says school supplies valued at $20 or more will be accepted in place of two $18 parking tickets. Donated supplies will be given to the Tuscaloosa City Board of Education and distributed to local students in need.

The initiative was a successful one last year, as Patch previously reported, with the city collecting 1,183 school supplies during the month of August, ultimately canceling out more than 250 parking tickets.
