Tuscaloosa County EMA Warns Community Of Latest Online Scam

Messages have been received by individuals informing them they have won a giveaway and to complete a registration process to receive a prize

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa County Emergency Management Agency (EMA) is warning the public to be vigilant following the appearance of a new scam involving free weather radios.

Tuscaloosa County EMA says messages have been received by individuals informing them that they have won a giveaway and to complete a registration process to receive a "prize."

"Please note, if you receive this message, it's a scam," Tuscaloosa County EMA said from its Facebook page on Tuesday. There is no registration process to pick up a weather radio and we would never call it a 'prize.'"
