Tuscaloosa Extends Application Deadline For Historic Preservation Commission

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa has extended the application window for an open position on the city's Historic Preservation Commission, with resumes accepted through the end of June.

Those appointed to the Commission serve three-year terms.

The Commission is charged with reviewing and voting on all improvements and developments within the historic districts throughout Tuscaloosa, while also providing guidance to property owners in the planning and design phases of projects.

The candidates will be reviewed and recommended by the mayor to the full City Council for approval.

Requirements:

• Live within the Tuscaloosa city limits.
• Have training or experience in history, architecture, architectural history, American studies, cultural geography, cultural anthropology, planning, archaeology, law or other related historic preservation fields.
• Be available to attend monthly meetings.
