"These rankings reflect the hard work of our students, the dedication of our teachers and staff, and the tremendous support of our families."

Pewee-Childs said the recognition underscores the academic progress being made at both schools.

"We are proud of this recognition, but what matters most is the learning and growth happening in our classrooms every day," she said.

Tuscaloosa City Schools Superintendent Mike Daria also praised the achievement, pointing to the collaboration between educators, students and families as a driving force behind the schools' success.

"These results demonstrate what is possible when talented educators, engaged families and hardworking students come together with a shared commitment to excellence," he said.

TCS says seven of Alabama's top 10 elementary schools in the U.S. News rankings are magnet schools.
