Suspect Charged After Sunday Wreck At Tuscaloosa Intersection Critically Injures One

The Tuscaloosa Police Department has charged a 27-year-old man after a two-vehicle crash Sunday left one person fighting for their life.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department has arrested a man following a Sunday night crash that hospitalized one person with life-threatening injuries.

TPD says the crash occurred at 8:30 p.m. at the intersection of Lurleen Wallace Boulevard North and University Boulevard, resulting in the arrest of Jimmy Alan Brooks, 27. He was charged with first-degree assault, DUI and failure to comply with ignition interlock device requirements.

Brooks was reportedly driving a Toyota Tundra north on Lurleen Wallace Boulevard when police say he struck the side of a Chevrolet Cruze that was traveling east on University Boulevard.

The 47-year-old driver of the Chevrolet was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center and is still being treated for life-threatening injuries.

Brooks was was being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail as of the publication of this story, with his total bond set at $45,000.
