Tuscaloosa Man Charged In Fatal Shooting At University Manor

A suspect is facing murder and attempted murder charges after a Tuscaloosa man was gunned down at University Manor Saturday.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — An arrest has been made in a fatal shooting Saturday morning in the 400 block of 30th Place at University Manor apartments.

Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Captain Marty Sellers told local media Monday morning that Tuscaloosa resident Tobias Nickerson, 23, has been charged with felony murder and attempted murder in the shooting death of 24-year-old Larry Deashean Cameron, of Tuscaloosa.

Sellers said officers responded to the shooting call shortly after midnight Saturday morning, with Cameron pronounced dead at the scene.

Nickerson was then identified as a suspect and apprehended shortly thereafter. He remains in the Tuscaloosa County Jail awaiting bond.

"The investigation continues and additional charges may be brought against other people involved in the incident," Sellers said.
