TUSCALOOSA, AL — A Tuscaloosa man is dead following a two-vehicle crash early Sunday morning on Interstate 59 in Greene County.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says the fatal crash occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. Sunday, July 6, when the 2020 Honda Accord driven by 34-year-old Lorenzo Cherry Jr., of Tuscaloosa, struck the rear of the 2024 Ford F-350 driven by a man from Carrollton.

Investigators say that after the initial impact, the Honda and the Ford both caught fire.
Cherry was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the other man was transported to Northport Medical Center for treatment.

ALEA says the crash occurred on Interstate 59 near the 40 mile marker, approximately one mile north of Eutaw in Greene County.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
