Tuscaloosa Police Accepting Applications For Citizens Academy
Applications for the annual course will be accepted through Jan. 3, 2022.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department is now accepting applications for its 2022 Citizens Academy, which is geared toward giving members of the community an up-close look at how the department operates.

TPD says classes will be held from 5:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m. each Monday night between Feb. 7, 2022 and March 28, 2022

As part of the course, participants will ride along with a patrol officer for part of a shift and spend a day at the shooting range.
Participants will also be able to collect evidence and work to solve a mock homicide investigation, which will provide perspective on how TPD's forensics investigators use technology to solve crimes.

Additionally, participants will be able to experience TPD's virtual reality training simulator.
Dinner will be provided each class and the deadline to apply in Jan. 3, 2022.
