Tuscaloosa Woman Killed In Crash Identified, Missing Driver Found
Police have identified a woman killed in a wreck Friday, while also saying the missing driver of the other vehicle has been located.
TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Police Department has identified the victim of a fatal crash last Friday and announced it had located the other driver involved, who was not at the scene when emergency responders arrived.
The crash occurred Friday at Highway 11 and University Boulevard East near Wildwood Trace after the vehicles were found about 20 feet down a roadside ravine. A woman was found dead at the scene after being ejected from her vehicle and identified as Lavonta Caldwell, 44, of Tuscaloosa.
TPD says Caldwell was driving a car involved in a crash with a Chevrolet Silverado that was found overturned at the crash site, about 20 feet down a ravine. A motorist passing by called 911 to report
the crash at 3:06 a.m.

Additionally, TPD confirmed the missing driver of the truck was located near the intersection of U.S. Highway 11 and Ridge Haven later Friday morning.
While his name has not been released, the 39-year-old Tuscaloosa County resident was transported to DCH Regional Medical Center for treatment of his injuries. It is unclear if he will face any charges at this time.
