Tuscaloosa's Tim Anderson Steals Show In 'Field Of Dreams' Game

The former Hillcrest High Patriot had the biggest moment of the night as he hit a walk-off home run in the ninth to beat the Yankees.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — A baseball classic on the silver screen came to life on Thursday night and it would be a Tuscaloosa native who would grab the spotlight during the game's biggest moment.

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson — a former Hillcrest High Patriot — hit a two-run homer to right field in the bottom of the ninth for the Sox to win 9-8 in the Field of Dreams Game. The nationally-televised game was played on the titular baseball diamond from the 1989 movie starring Kevin Costner.

The game was also the first Major League Baseball game played in the state of Iowa.

Apart from his heroics Thursday night, Anderson has had a season to remember, with the 28-year-old being selected for his first MLB All-Star Game.

For the 2021 campaign thus far, Anderson is hitting an even .300, with 13 home runs and 47 RBIs.
