As Patch previously reported, 37-year-old Scott Harless — owner of Nocturnal Tavern and a fixture in the Tuscaloosa bar scene — was killed on July 13 when the SUV he was driving struck a train near the intersection of 16th Street and Queen City Avenue.

Following news of the untimely death, the Tuscaloosa Hospitality Association launched a GoFundMe to aid Nocturnal Tavern employees with expenses until the bar announces further details of its re-opening.
The fundraiser successfully topped its goal, raising $5,050 from 36 donors as of the publication of this story. Donations are still being accepted and can be made by clicking here.

Another GoFundMe has also been established to help cover funeral expenses for Harless.
"Due to the nature of his passing, there are many unexpected costs associated with planning his final arrangements," the online fundraiser states. "Many of you have kindly reached out to the family and asked how you can help. We are requesting that in lieu of flowers, please consider showing your support by contributing to Scott's final arrangements. This sudden loss has left his family completely overwhelmed; however, they truly appreciate everyone who has reached out and offered love and support during this difficult time."

As of the publication of this story, the online fundraiser for final arrangements had garnered $12,361 toward its goal of $25,000.
