Two Hospitalized After Northport House Fire Tuesday Morning

Northport Fire Rescue says two people were hospitalized Tuesday morning following a house fire in the Northwood Lake subdivision.

NORTHPORT, AL — Northport Fire Rescue responded early Tuesday morning to a fully-involved house fire at 4606 Pelican Avenue in the city's Northwood Lake subdivision.

Northport Fire Chief Bart Marshall told Patch the call of the fire came in about 3:45 a.m., with crews arrive to a fire that engulfed approximately half of the home on Pelican Drive. He said the point of origin in the fire appeared to have been in the garage, but the investigation remains ongoing.

He also said two people were transported to DCH for smoke inhalation and injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening.

A neighbor also told Patch they observed ladder trucks attacking the blaze by spraying down onto the top of the house, which was "cracking and popping, sending huge sprays of embers swirling into the sky."

Luckily, no other damage was caused to any other homes or property in the neighborhood as the fire was contained before it could spread.
