TUSCALOOSA, AL — Two people are dead following a single-vehicle crash early Saturday morning in Sumter County.

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) says two men two men — Shamerian L. Lewis, 26, of Dixons Mills and Cordarrel D. Robinson, 32, of Mobile — were killed when the 2017 Honda Civic in which they were passengers left the roadway, struck a ditch and several trees before overturning.

It is unclear if the driver of the Honda, a resident of Dixon Mills, sustained injuries in the crash.

ALEA said neither man was using their seat belts and were both pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Alabama Highway 17 near the 130 mile marker, roughly nine miles south of York

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
