Tractor-Trailer Wreck, Vehicle Fire Shut Down Stretch Of Highway 43 In Northport
A two-vehicle wreck involving an 18-wheeler did not result in any serious injuries, but does have both lanes of Highway 43 closed.

NORTHPORT, AL — A two-vehicle wreck involving an 18-wheeler had both lanes of U.S. Highway 43 blocked by emergency responders near Paul Howell Road in Northport Tuesday morning.

Thankfully, Tuscaloosa Patch was informed by first responders on the scene that there did not appear to have been any serious injuries resulting from the wreck early Tuesday morning.

At the scene, a jackknifed tractor-trailer could be seen in the middle of the normally-busy highway, while a little more than 100 yards to the south, an SUV had apparently been engulfed in flames after coming to a stop in a ditch.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said in a press release Tuesday morning that the call of the wreck came in at 6:09 a.m.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
Responding agencies included ALEA, Carroll's Creek Volunteer Fire Department, Northport Fire Rescue, the Northport Police Department and the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff's Office.
The northbound lane was reopened just after 10 a.m., ALEA said in an update.
