UA Launches Search For Vice President For Community Impact

The University of Alabama has begun a national search for its next vice president for community impact

TUSCALOOSA, AL— The University of Alabama has set out on a national search for its next vice president for community impact.

UA says the senior leadership role will be focused on strengthening partnerships and aligning the university’s work with needs across the state and beyond.

The vice president for community impact will also serve as UA’s executive leader for strategy related to community engagement, collaboration with state and national organizations, and expanding the university’s measurable impact in Alabama.

UA said the position will work closely with academic and administrative leadership to connect institutional priorities with real-world challenges.

The role will also report to Chad Tindol, UA’s senior vice president for partnerships and strategy, who is chairing the search committee.

Committee members include Stan Acker, assistant vice chancellor for finance and administration with the University of Alabama System and a Tuscaloosa County commissioner; Montgomery County District Judge Samarria Dunson, president of the UA Community Affairs Board of Advisors; trustee emeritus and community member John England; John Giggie, professor and director of the Summersell Center for the Study of the South; Rosalind Moore-Miller, assistant vice president for student engagement; Charlie Beth Pruett, UA student and Student Government Association chief of staff; and Justice Smyth, executive director of the Tuscaloosa County Economic Development Authority and a UA Community Affairs Board of Advisors member.

UA also said the vice president will lead efforts to expand philanthropic and governmental support for university and UA System initiatives, working with the President’s Office and UA System Government Relations Office to advance priorities at the state and federal levels.

Applications will receive best consideration if submitted by March 14.

The university expects to announce the new vice president later this spring.
