UWWA said the nonprofit trains children in school classrooms to recognize unsafe behaviors and environments, along with other skills.
Knowing that one in 10 children will be sexually abused before their 18th birthday and that 90% of children who are victims of sexual abuse know their abuser, CAPS programs are vital for educating children, parents, and caregivers about child sexual abuse prevention.
Founded in 1977, CAPS trained 18,499 children since its inception, while also extending training to new and expectant mothers in identifying abuse and ways to better cope with the pressures of being a new parent.
