TUSCALOOSA, AL — United Way of West Alabama's 2022 fundraising campaign is coming to a close, with organizers urging last-minute donations from the community.

As Patch reported last week, the annual campaign — chaired this year by Tuscaloosa businessman Jheovanny Gomez — has garnered $4.4 million to date.

"As you consaider making an end of the year donation, I'd like to ask you to give to United Way," Gomez said in a video message on Tuesday. "Over the past year, I have been humbled to learn abouyt the very real and increasing needs in our community.

The funds raised will benefit 30 nonprofits partnered with UWWA
"This is the first time in more than a decade that we've added new agencies, but that of course means we're asking you for more help," he said ."Where else can one donation be spread over 30 organizations?"
