Starting June 1, students’ swipe Action Cards will no longer function at readers on and off campus. Faculty and staff swipe Action Cards featuring Denny Chimes will be deactivated on July 13.
The official credential for The University of Alabama campus will be the mobile ACT Card. The mobile card works the same way as the physical card, but with added security and convenience. A physical card is not needed to add the mobile card to Apple Wallet or Google Pay. Find complete instructions on how to download the mobile ACT Card at the Action Card website.

Students who have not upgraded to the mobile ACT card will need to do so before May 30 to avoid interruptions in Action Card services.
Students graduating this spring, but are returning to the University for summer classes, will need the mobile card for all Action Card privileges including door access, purchases, meal plans and event access.
Faculty and staff who have not upgraded to the mobile ACT card will need to do so or request a new physical card — which features Big Al and can be swiped or tapped — before July 12 to avoid interruptions in Action Card functions.
Some faculty and staff need physical cards for time clocks. To request a new physical ACT Card, contact the Action Card Office at 205-348-2288 or via email at action.card@ua.edu. Updating to the new physical card from the old card is free. There is a $35 replacement fee for a lost card.
A new, recent photo is required for new physical cards. Faculty and staff who had a portrait taken by UA photographers can find their photo on the PhotoShelter website by logging in with their myBama credentials and searching for their name. Downloading the medium or large file will meet size requirements for photo submission. Those who need a photo taken by the Action Card Office should make an appointment during office business hours.
Submit photos for approval online at the Action Card website. Once you receive your photo approval email, you may contact the Action Card Office during business hours regarding card pick up.
For assistance, please contact the Action Card Office during business hours, Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.- 5 p.m., at 205-348-2288 or action.card@ua.edu.
