VFW Post In Cottondale Starts GoFundMe For Flood Damage

The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6022 is asking for the community help recovering from recent flood damage.

COTTONDALE, AL — The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #6022 is asking for volunteers and donations from the community as it recovers from recent flood damage.

A member of the Post launched a GoFundMe to help cover the cost of repairs, which are due to a ruptured ice machine that left roughly two inches of water in the club's canteen, bathroom, kitchen and pool room.

The Post is normally closed on Monday and Tuesday, which resulted in the flood damage being found on Wednesday.

"We are going out with a public appeal for assistance in repairs to our Post Home in dealing with the costs of rehab in any way we can receive them, i.e. funding, materials, and volunteer labor," the GoFundMe page reads."We may have to replace walls, electrical, for sure some plumbing, etc. Our financial state, at this time, isn’t where we can afford to make all of the repairs that will have to be made."

As of the publication of this story, the GoFundMe had raised $580 toward its goal of $50,000.
