TUSCALOOSA, AL — Visit Tuscaloosa is gearing up for its big Oktoberfest celebration later this month and is currently in need of volunteers.

At present, more than a dozen volunteer spots are available for the event on Oct. 28

Visit Tuscaloosa says it is specifically seeking volunteers for the following roles:

  • The festival entrance (all shifts still have a few spots available)
  • Assist with the VIP area from noon until 2:30 pm
  • 2-3 people to help with set up / break down
  • Miscellaneous/floaters throughout the day

As Patch previously reported, the Bavarian-themed extravaganza will offer food and live music from Oompah-Calypse and Rollin' in the Hay, with treats including traditional bratwurst, pretzels and German beer.

Beer will also be provided by Black Warrior Brewing Co., Druid City Brewery Co., Cahaba Brewing Co. and Goat Island Brewery.

Authentic German food will be offered from Bread Thymes, Rolf's German Deli, Peterbrooke Chocolatier and others.

The event will also feature a Dachshund Dash and a Stein Hoisting Competition, along with offerings for kids.

Proceeds from the 5K will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Admission is free to children 12 and under, with general admission priced at $10 and VIP at $75.
