Walker County Deputies Bust Three Illegal Gambling Operations Friday
The Walker County Sheriff's Office says it shut down three suspected illegal gambling operations operating out of businesses.

TUSCALOOSA, AL —The Walker County Sheriff’s Office says it shut down three suspected illegal gambling operations operating out of legitimate businesses in three different communities.

Accompanied by an Inspector with the Alabama Alcohol Beverage Control Board, Walker County deputies executed a search warrant on one of the locations Friday due to the possibility that there was more than one business at the location.

The sheriff's office said the locations were in Empire, Manchester and just outside of Carbon Hill, with investigators recovering slot machines and cash.
Walker County Sheriff Nick Smith stressed to those wanting changes to Alabama’s gambling policy that it would require action by the legislature and governor before then being put on a statewide ballot for the voters.

Until then, however, Smith said his office will continue to have the capacity to address illegal gambling operations while prioritizing resources for major crimes, drug dealing (with emphasis on Fentanyl dealers), and search and rescue operations.
